Seasons.

One thing I'm always thankful for, is that fact that every year has four seasons. I'm a big fan of all of them. If you were to ask me what my favorite one was, I'd simply say I could never choose.
I like spring. I like when the sun starts coming out. I like getting out spring dresses, and wearing bright colors. I like that there are flowers every where in every color. I like getting excited for summer on spring break.

I love summer! I like being free and laying on warm sand with the beams of the sun tickling my skin. I like getting tan (with sunscreen of course!) I like making smoothies and eating ice cream and having adventures.

I really like fall. I love when the leaves start to change. When everything you eat or drink has the word pumpkin in it. I like carving pumpkins. I like going back to school with new pencils and new notebooks.

I adore winter! Oh yes how I love winter. I love peppermint everything. I love Christmas. I lovelovelove pine scented air fresheners, wearing tights, boots, scarves, and extra pairs of socks. I also really like the whole movie, hot cocoa, and blazing fire thing. It's cozy.

I like change. I'm glad I get four seasons every year...I'm also glad that in every season in my life, Jesus loves me..no matter what. All of my life, in every season, He is still God and I have a reason to sing. I have a reason to worship him. Always. And that's big.

Glitter smokey eye tutorial.

I'm really digging the 2012 glitter craze.

So I decided I'd try it myself. I like number two the best for an every day or going out look.

To get it...?

Start with a clean and moisturized face. Use foundation, powder, and blush to match your face.
First prime your eyes. I like the clinique eye shadow primer in canvas.
It's super shiny and holds your eye makeup in place until YOU take it off.
I use mine right on the base of my lid along my lash line, and underneath my eyebrows for a nice highlight.
Then I used MACS platinum pigment. (Thanks Blair!) It is super bright and ridiculously sparkly. To apply I used a Mac blending brush.
Apply the pigment on your lid, and under your eye for more of a pop.
Next use a dark grey in your crease and on the outside corner of your lid. (I like Greens smoke by MAC.
Then use a liquid eyeliner (any will do). I like black. If you're not used to the liquid, don't just draw a straight line across your eye because it will look terrible, but try it in little sweeps all the way across.
Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara to finish the eyes.
To finish the look add a light color to your lips. (NEVER do a smoky eye and bright lip, it's way too much on the face. Choose one or the other.)

The end! Happy glitter day!
ps next time i'll use a better camera. these picture are horrid.

Monday wishes.

photo via my Polaroid camera...on one of those warm outdoor adventures.

Today I wish it was hot outside. Don't get me wrong I love the rain and cold, but my toes can't handle much more. Also, the whole running and going on adventures outside thing is no fun when you have to bundle yourself up like an Eskimo.
I wish that Yurtles tank would clean itself...and that he had never eaten the two sucker fish I bought him...not only to be his friends, but to at least keep the tank clean for more than a week at a time.
I wish that speeding tickets didn't cost any money.
I wish that flowers were cheap so I could send lovely ones to everyone I love.
I wish my contact hadn't fallen down the sink today.
I wish that you could magically pick the length of your hair, and it would grow to that length instantly (and that there were no such things as split ends).
I wish I had something to do today, that was outside my house, so I could wear my red cowgirl boots...they're calling for my feet.
I wish that cheez-its and cheetos had the nutritional value of lettuce.
I wish had colbie caillat's vocal chords, (or bruno mars, but that might be weird..) and that I knew more than 10 chords on the guitar...(I'm working on it, and working on switching from chord to chord) because I want to be a pro and sing my heart away each day with it in hand!

That's all..happy monday. Have a lovely one.

January 22, 2012

A sunday post.

Today was a good day and a bad day.
I accidentally slept in = GOOD.
Being brave and wearing bright lipstick = good.
Napping on the floor in front of the fireplace = good.
Watching football and snuggling into a blanket with lots of cheez-its = good.
Watching both of the teams I was rooting for lose = bad.
Being sick all day = bad.
My body hurting all over = BAD BAD BAD.
Why is this? Oh yeah...it's RAINING. I absolutely adore the rain. It's lovely. But, it makes my body hurt everywhere I've ever had an injury...because of the low pressure system. Boo! My head, my ribs, my back, my legs, my recently broken foot....bleh. I'm excited to crawl into bed and sleep in like a mad man tomorrow and have a good Monday with almost nothing on the agenda.
xo.

Confession.

On account that we have yet to have winter over here, or really even fall...I might just be 100% ready for...summer!
Crazy right? Well I the truth is part of me is ready for cute suits, tan legs, warm toes, cute and bright clothes, popsicles and frozen bananas, and beach days.
However, the other part of me is so ready for hot chocolate, falling asleep to rain, being bundled up, wearing hats and gloves, and catnaps by the fireplace.
The end.

January 16, 2012

My heart is for his hands.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,
                    wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
                    interposed his precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor
                    daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
                    prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

Sometimes I feel like when I have a God moment, when I can hear him and feel him, my heart becomes more vulnerable and the Devil tries to seek his way in. Sometimes he does. Sometimes he doesn’t. But today it’s my prayer that God will take my heart which I’m freely giving him, and that He will seal it, and keep it safe in his hands.

Husband letters.

Dear way way way far in the future husband,
Today I went wedding dress shopping with Amanda
She looked beautiful in every dress she put on, and picked my second favorite one, but she chose a beautiful dress.
Today while sharing in this beautiful day with beautiful women whom I love and look up to, I started thinking of you and who you will be. What you will be like! I was excited, impatient, and nervous all at once.
Of course I want you to have all these, but today I was thinking more about the unimportant, but still important things.
I hope you play guitar. I hope you sing to me loudly and softly while I'm falling asleep. I hope you'll make me heart shaped peanut butter jelly sandwiches, and kiss my knobby, ugly knees. I hope you let my prickly legs and ice cold toes snuggle with you. I hope you never want to stop dating me. I hope you will take me on grand adventures. I hope you write me love letters. And last but not least I oh so hope you put up with my girly quirks...like the fact that I hate hearing people breath, that I can't sleep with socks on, that my toenails always have to be painted, that I can't stand when someone showers before me and leaves the rug all soggy...yuck!
Maybe I've met you, or seen you, or am dating you, or have yet to meet you...but whomever you are, I'm sure I'll be your biggest fan.
That's all.

January 10, 2012

waiting.

I've always been a dreamer, but my dreams seem to change a lot. I'm more of a come up with a big idea, but not keep it kind of girl. I've never had a dream that I could see myself in loud and clear. Never had one that makes so much sense only in my head, until a few nights ago. I've wanted to be a cosmetologist for a while. A few years ago I went through the struggle of having an eating disorder. I decided on cosmetology to help make women feel beautiful and good about themselves, not just on the outside, but telling them that they are fearfully and wonderfully made on the inside and that the King is enthralled by their beauty.  I was on the computer and saw a random ad on the side of the page for the arrojo cosmetology school in New York.  I'd heard about it but not in full detail. I stayed up until three in the morning reading their online magazine, and gears clicked in my head. This would be an amazing opportunity, if this was on my resume I could go anywhere, get any job, and be anything (within the field of cosmetology), but....it would cost me a huge amount. Long story short, a few days later, I'm discouraged. My parents tell me that God has a plan for me, which of course He does, and that this is America, I can be anything that I want to be and do anything I set my mind to. Even after listening to them my heart was still heavy, dwelling on the fact that someone like me would probably never get the chance to do something this great. I picked up this book which everyone needs to have a copy of, and this was on the page...
"I AM WITH YOU AND FOR YOU. When you decide on a course of action that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop you. You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goal, but don't be discouraged-never give up! With My help, you can overcome any obstacle. Do not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me, but do remember that I, your very-present Helper, am omnipotent."
So maybe that's just a coincidence, but maybe not.  Maybe I'm the most impatient woman in the world but if God wants me to do this, it will happen.  But for now...I just need to wait.

A friday thought.

I don't need a ton of things to make me happy. It's always been the little things that do it for me.
LIKE Coffee, a clean turtle tank, playing guitar on my bed room floor while Yurtle Clive sits on his dock and listens to me, wearing yoga pants, yellow, the sun coming through the window (Okay really though? Is it ever going to rain? It's January. I'm starting to crave summer...so..it needs to happen soon.) A good workout, soft socks, getting a second to read, and accidental cat naps.
Just the little things.
Happy weekend!
